Theme 2

Theme 2

Everyday life

Time required: approximately 2–3 lessons

Intro

Theme 2 is closer to something that most young people can relate to: Everyday life. What does a typical day look like for young people in Greenland, the Faroe Islands and Denmark? What is involved – school, free time, friends, family? Here, students may discover that differences and similarities may not always be as clear as they imagined.

Content and direction

This theme sheds light on the everyday lives of young people based on texts about the everyday lives of young people in the three countries.
Among other things, there is a focus on:

The texts can provide an opportunity to compare, ask questions and recognize something from one’s own life.

Video interviews (approx. 15 min.)

The video gives students the opportunity to meet young people who talk about their everyday lives in their own words. Perhaps it is the “little” things that the students notice – which can help start the conversation.

It may be a good idea to take notes during the interview – and collect them afterwards.

Conversation in class

Temaet legger opp til samtaler der elevene kan sammenligne og få perspektiv.

Dette kan for eksempel dreie seg om:

Perhaps the students will discover that they have more in common than they thought.
Or the differences become more obvious.

Assignments/answer sheets

Questions divided into three categories:

Some students will start from their own experiences immediately, while others will first orient themselves in what they encounter in the material.

Perspective

The theme of everyday life invites you to:

Theme Kahoot – digital and analog

If the class is working digitally, they can access Kahoot via link and complete it as a shared activity. The questions are also available in an analog version. They can be used if you are working without a screen – or if you want to take the questions at your own pace, e.g. as a shared review in class. The Kahoots checklist is included as an appendix at the back of the learning guide.
