POLARSKOLEN WANTS TO CONTRIBUTE AND INSPIRE
Denmark has a goal of reducing the emission of greenhouse gases by 70 per cent. in 2030.
It is one of the most ambitious climate goals in the world. It is a task that Polarskolen would like to help solve.
We wand to bring the global climate crisis right into the classroom. In the project, we will use our experience and expertise from our courses on Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands. We will create a completely new and exciting course with lots of activities and a strong focus on climate. Our plan is to start development in 2023.
The 70 per cent reduction in 2030 is an important goal – but it is not the only goal that counts. The new danish government has advanced the Climate Act's 2050 target for climate neutrality to 2045. It has also set a target of 110 per cent. reduction in 2050, when Denmark must absorb more CO2 than is emitted. The foundation for these long-term goals must be laid now!
A sustainable transition is about much more than a reduction target. It is about the society we want to build in the next 30 years. If this can be achieved in a way that benefits both the planet and its inhabitants, Denmark can strengthen its position as a green pioneering country that can inspire others - all over the world.
Our goal is to inspire children and young people for the future and engage them in the climate solutions they must help to find.
