Founder, CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD & Instructor

Gregers is a professional outdoor guide and commercial pilot with over 20 years in the aviation industry. His love for the outdoors, combined with his passion for polar exploration led him to undertake an ambitious crossing of Greenland on ski as well as an expedition with his friend, Kristian Joos, to be the first Danes to ski to the South Pole.

Soon after his journey across Greenland, Gregers realised that there was a need for a more robust curriculum and educational programme about Greenland, the Faroe Islands and the Arctic for Danish youth. Using his experience and passion for the polar regions, Gregers founded the Polar School (Danish: Polarskolen). 

Laali berthelsen
INSTRUCTOR

Originally from Nuuk, Greenland, Laali is an experienced outdoor guide and tour leader in the polar regions. With over a decade's worth of experience working in the tourism industry, both in Greenland and abroad, Laali works with Polarskolen as an instructor for many of the organisation's school programmes, where she lectures both on her background and on Greenland.

Amma knudsen
board member, TREASURER & instructor

Originally from Grenland, Amma is a member of Polarskolen's board of directors. Within the organisation, she also manages Polarskolen's finances, which is integral for ensuring that Polarskolen can create high-quality educational materials and programming.

Óluva Nattestad
board member, COMMUNICATION Director & instructor

Originally from the Faroe Islands, Óluva is a member of Polarskolen's board of directors and is responsible for managing the organisation's communications, a vital task for ensuring that information about Polarskolen's mission and educational programming is available to the Danish public.
